NIRAS is a Danish interdisciplinary engineering and consulting company with over 2,400 permanent staff based in offices around Europe, Africa and Asia. The overseas development work is carried out by the NIRAS International Consulting business unit (NIC). NIRAS – IP Consult, the German office of NIC is currently looking for a Project Manager to strengthen our capacity in skills development and employment promotion projects – one of our key areas of expertise.
We offer interesting work in a dynamic, multinational, and interdisciplinary team and in strong collaboration with colleagues in the German and Danish office. The main responsibilities related to the position are project management and backstopping of projects awarded to NIRAS as well as the acquisition of new projects. There will also be opportunities for consulting assignments and short-term missions.
More specifically the responsibilities will include:
- Conceptual design of technical proposals related to skills development and employment promotion
- Management of projects including technical and financial backstopping (also on-site)
- Acquisition of technical and financial assistance projects, including management of bidding processes for key donors (especially for GIZ, KfW, and SDC)
- Contribute to technical working groups and actively work across sectors. i.e. climate, energy, agriculture
Personnel requirements:
- Academic degree (Master or equivalent) in education, especially with focus on TVET, or other relevant social sciences or economics and / or master craftsmen with VET school teaching experience
- 10 years of practical experience as a project or tender manager working in development consulting, international organisations, or relevant NGOs
- Experience with bilateral and/or multilateral donors (mainly GIZ, KfW, and SDC – it’s an additional asset to know EU, AfD, World Bank or ADB)
- Sector knowledge in skills development and employment promotion
- Excellent English language skills. French and/or German are strong assets
- Very good communication skills, intercultural competence, ability to work in a team, flexibility to work on a broad range of topics, willingness to travel
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Excellent network of relevant persons & organisations in the area of skills development and employment promotion
Please note that a successful candidate must have a permission to work in the EU/Germany.
Starting date: 01.10.22 or as agreed upon – preferably as full-time employee.
Location: preferably in Stuttgart or Berlin; with possible option of remote working arrangement after 3-6 months onboarding.
