Background:

World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a leading Canadian international development organization that works with and through its southern partners to promote sustainable development. Founded in 1957 and currently working in 22 countries worldwide with an annual budget of approximately $45 million dollars, WUSC works towards a world where young people can grow up in safe, secure, supportive environments, where they can learn, work and play a vital role in their community and country’s development. Our internationally recognized programs support youth, women and other marginalized populations, focusing on three thematic areas of education, employment and engagement. Globally, WUSC works with a network of higher education institutions, civil society organizations, private sector partners, professionals, students, volunteers, faculty and community leaders that can be leveraged to support our work.
WUSC and its consortium partner the Canadian Leaders in International Consulting (CLIC) are implementing the Women’s Economic Linkages and Employment Development (WE LEAD) project in Jordan. WE LEAD, a project funded by Global Affairs Canada, aims to increase women’s empowerment for sustainable economic growth; this will be achieved through activities focusing on women’s employment by businesses and the reduction of gender specific barriers to women entering into and remaining in the workforce. The project will be implemented over a period
March 7, 2017 to March 31, 2024 in the targeted areas of (East Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Salt) in Jordan.
WUSC Jordan Country Office is seeking to hire a qualified Project implementation coordinator under the direction of the TVET & Institutional Capacity Building Specialist, will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the various components of the project at the field level in partnership with the national and local partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the employment hub within the VTCs to facilitate the placement and employment of trained women graduates in high demand occupations and/or collect and follow up on related data in collaboration with the WE LEAD technical specialists.
  • Support the employment hub within the VTC to work on the beneficiaries’ recruitment and selection process as per the selection criteria.
  • Under the supervision of TVET and Institutional capacity building specialist provide the needed support to VTC staff on sustaining processes for developing and updating market-driven, gender-sensitive technical and soft skills training programs training programs, with strong employer engagement.
  • Support TVET and institutional capacity building specialist on assessing the capacity of VTC at the institutional level, in order to design and implement capacity development plans as required.
  • Under the supervision of the technical specialists, support the VTC and TVET commission to establish a healthcare and ECD sectoral advisory committees, led by the private sector as requested by the supervisor.
  • Work in collaboration with the technical specialists to promote VTCs’ adherence to training quality assurance guidelines, and to track trainee success in learning and employment, and to adjust training provision, as required, based on effective monitoring of training results.
  • Support the sustainability, scaling up and identification of revisions of technical and soft skills training programs as required of the national standards and plans.

Private Sector:

  • In coordination with the technical specialists conduct sectoral mapping of potential private sector partners and identify their needs in regard to employment and work environment.
  • Support the private sector engagement specialist in developing co-financing incentive mechanisms, outreach and implementation within their targeted areas with potential private sector partners.

General

  • In collaboration with the communication specialist, lead on activities such as (success stories, events, campaigns, recognition, etc.) of our partners, in order to promote their initiatives, success stories, impact and change.
  • Maintain effective communication with the technical specialists to ensure appropriate integration into overall project plan and implementation
  • Maintain well-structured documentation and filing system for the programs including documents, photos and keep track of partners and beneficiaries count records and database monitor in coordination with WE LEAD team and reflect all achievements and deliverables on frequent reports.
  • Support the national and international Consultant for the institutional capacity building under the supervision of the technical specialists.
  • Participate in related working groups and maintain close working relationships with counterparts in other relevant international NGOs in Jordan and the private sector.
  • Participate in WUSC / CLIC’s communications work by providing data, information and other material for use with WUSC and CLIC’s Canadian and international programming;
  • Demonstrate commitment to gender equality and women economic empowerment
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the project manager.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor degree in one of the following subjects: Social sciences, Social work, administration.
  • Three years’ experience in project implementation and partnership coordination
  • Experience in development projects
  • Experience in private sector training and development is preferred
  • Previous work experience within the International NGO sector is mandatory

Competencies

  • Highly effective communication and facilitation skills.
  • Proven competence in drafting reports related to training and linkages
  • Competent in engaging effectively for project planning and management with the private sector, government and VTCs.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to the four targeted governorates (East Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Salt).
  • Data collection & Reporting skills to document the various activities at the field level
  • Excellent presentation, leadership, mentoring and coaching ability and team building skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to gender equality and women economic empowerment
  • Commitment to organizational goals and functions of the WE LEAD project.
  • ● Superior oral and written skills required in English and Arabic.
