JOB PURPOSE
In this position, you will lead the fundraising, proposal development and grants management activities of the Skills Development Programme (SDP). You will work closely with programme teams and other programmes to design multi-programme holistic projects, find scope of funding opportunities with BRAC affiliates (BRAC UK and BRAC USA) and coordinate with BRAC’s central Global Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships (GRP) team to ensure compliance with BRAC’s procedures and donor requirements in reporting.
You will do networking with donor communities, private sector and foundation partners and develop donor landscape analysis according to relevance and context. This position will also support strategic and operational stewardship over donor resources by applying a set of relevant systems, policies, procedures and tools to ensure that grants and contracts are donor compliant and best serve the programme’s mission. Moreover, you will be in charge of all learning-based communications related strategy and planning, develop contents of capacity statements, keep track of current expression of interests, call for proposals, lead SDP’s technical and financial proposals, and ensure effective time management and processes for successful partnerships. You will also look into new and innovative ways of funding to meet the yearly fundraising targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead fundraising, proposal development and grants management at BRAC Skills Development Programme (SDP).
- Maintain close collaboration with multi-programme fund raising units - GRP, BRAC UK and USA.
- Update fundraising strategy and track funding opportunities for BRAC SDP, including opportunities with GoB, multilateral donors, bilateral governments, philanthropies/foundations and private sector.
- Support programmatic intervention design aligned with key priority areas including gender and inclusion, digital transformation and climate change.
- Proactively contribute to a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling and outreach activities, with the aim to maximise resources and leverage policy and technical support for BRAC SDP’s work
- Organise and take part in field visits for donors, partners and ensure that voices from the field are well aligned with new project design.
- Ensure close collaboration between SDP, Education, Migration and other programmes have integrated project design for increased impact within communities.
- Review legal agreements of donors to ensure compliance with BRAC’s policies and standards.
- Lead coordination and negotiations involved in the drafting process for financial and narrative reports among different teams, ensuring submission deadlines are met and reports of high quality to donors and senior management of BRAC.
- Support Director and Programme head to lead various conversations with potential donors and local corporate bodies and enterprises for traditional and alternative fundraising and partnerships (grants/tenders, CSR, B2B, impact investing etc.) to continuously increase the size of SDP’s work.
- Ensure existing donors and partners are sufficiently informed to maintain/strengthen relationships.
- Use data to present managers with well-researched ideas to expand support from existing partners and to scope new partners, guided by programmatic assessment and context-specific analysis with the aim to enhance the impact of BRAC SDP’s work and diversify the resource base.
- Support budget planning (in cooperation with SDP’s Financial Analyst) and donor reporting (team leads for timely delivery, and Communications & Knowledge Management Specialist for quality assurance).
- Track opportunities for the programme to collaborate on TVET, youth skills development, decent work, social inclusion, informal sector employment related studies with external/ international organisations.
- Organise and participate in different knowledge management forums/ seminars/ conferences on skills development and guide SDP staff accordingly on how to capture learning/ good practices.
- Undertake monthly performance review of supervisees, ensure activities are well in line with other units of the skills development programme, i.e., operations, TVET support, inclusion and decent work, technology, research, among others.
- Support the Director and Programme Head on timely delivery of reports (Bi-Annual Progress Report, Annual Operation Plan Matrix and Narrative to the requesting department (ED’s Office) as and when needed.
- Ensure capacity building training for SDP staff on Google Drive and proposal/ project/ log frame development.
- Ensure in proposal submissions for local EOI/ RFP/ Biddings which are published in local print/ electronic media.
- Continuously visit and coordinate with big enterprises for finding CSR funds and other grants and making a directory of the potential enterprises.
- Ensure gender and inclusivity within the project.
- Proactively analyse issues and resolve through collaboration with other teams/ partners/ affiliates.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Sound conceptual knowledge on proposal development and fundraising issues associated with development organisations/ NGOs.
- Understanding of the full grant cycle including proposal development phase.
- Understanding of the financial aspects of grant management, ability to work with Finance Departments on grant management issues.
- In-depth understanding on key development issues in the context of urban and rural Bangladesh.
- Practical experience in the areas of fundraising, grants management, communications, reporting and M&E or research.
- Publications and/or proof of written content, preferably both in Bangla and English will be an advantage.
- Excellent English writing and communications skills. A good hold on Bangla communications will be preferred as well.
- Excellent networking skills and people management skills.
- Collaborative mind-set and a team player.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s in Communication/ International Relationship/ English/ Economics/ Public Administration/ Management and related subject from any recognised university/ institution.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 05 years’ experience in the related field (of at least 3 years in Managerial Position).
