Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent reports to the Chief, Field Education Programme (CFEP).

The incumbent supervises a large team of professional and support staff and provides strategic direction, leadership and management on all technical, managerial and programmatic matters related to the Field Education Programme.

Responsibilities

Advises and assists the Chief, Field Education Programme in the planning, management, monitoring and evaluation of all administrative matters related to the implementation of Education Programme.

Supervises the administrative aspects of Education Programme in the Field Office ensuring coordination of personnel, finance, procurement, logistics and construction projects in line with UNRWA policies, rules, and regulations.

Supervises the preparation of the biennium budget of the Field Education Programme, and supervises effectively school expenditures from students' contributions and school revenues in line with relevant Education Technical Instructions (ETIS);

Supervises and/or participates in the recruitment of administrative staff and performance appraisal within the Education Programme in the Field Office and evaluates the efficiency of staff performance.

Supports the supervisor in monitoring and reporting of Field Education Programme activities related to administrative issues;

Advises and supports CFEP in overseeing the implementation of Education Programme including supervision of the Technical Support Unit, and/or Technical Vocational Education and Training (as applicable);

Contributes to the liaison with government, local authorities and UN/NGOs to ensure their cooperation’s and support in the operation of the Education Programme.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education

Advanced university degree from an accredited educational institution in education in subjects taught at UNRWA/VTCs, Business Administration, education management or teaching methodologies. (Bachelor's degree holders with 10 years of relevant experience may be considered).

Work Experience

Required to have at least eight years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in education support services function. (Bachelor's degree holders with 10 years of relevant experience may be considered)

Required to have at least four years should have been at a senior supervisory level.

Languages

Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
