Job Description

DanChurchAid (DCA) Kenya, alongside its consortium partners, is leading the Danida-funded Ajira Poa! Project, aimed at fostering job creation and skills development for unemployed youth in Kenya. Operating across Nakuru, Nyandarua, and West Pokot Counties, this initiative strives to equip young Kenyans with the necessary skills and opportunities for gainful employment or self-employment, with a special emphasis on green growth jobs.

Background:

Despite the pivotal role played by Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) in imparting practical skills, effective career guidance often remains overlooked. This oversight leads to challenges for students and job seekers in making informed career choices. Recognizing this gap, DCA seeks to enhance the capacity of VTC trainers, youth programming NGOs, and Directorate of Youth Affairs representatives in delivering effective career guidance services.

Consultancy Objective:

DCA is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a comprehensive Training of Trainers (TOT) program on Career Guidance. The aim is to build the capacity of 30 VTC trainers, 6 local NGOs representatives, and 3 representatives from the Directorate of Youth Affairs across Nakuru, Nyandarua, and West Pokot Counties. The primary goal is to empower participants in providing effective career guidance to students and job seekers within their communities.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will be responsible for conducting a needs assessment, developing a tailored training curriculum, delivering interactive training sessions, providing post-training support, and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders. Key tasks include:

  • Conducting a needs assessment.
  • Developing a comprehensive training curriculum.
  • Delivering interactive training sessions and workshops.
  • Providing post-training support and certification.
  • Establish a system for cross referral to Facilitate collaboration among VTCs, NGOs, and stakeholders.

Provide the following information (mandatory documents)

  • Brief company profile with the company’s name, contact details and a brief background (for firms/companies);
  • Company’s statutory documents (Certificate of registration or incorporation, CR12, KRA Pin and a Valid Compliance certificate) Individuals to provide copy of ID card and KRA PIN of director.
  • List of your current clients and their contact details.
  • A summary of the skills and experience of the proposed lead consultant and the consultant(s) have together with their CVs showing relevant previous assignments, education level and the details of at least three referees. Maximum, 3 pages.

Duration and Location:

The consultancy is expected to span 30 days, including pre-training preparations, training sessions, and two weeks of post-training support. The locations will target VTCs, NGOs, and stakeholders across Nakuru, Nyandarua, and West Pokot Counties.

Qualifications and Expertise:

The ideal consultant should possess:

  • Experience in conducting training programs on career guidance.
  • In-depth knowledge of career development theories and counselling techniques.
  • Experience working with VTCs, NGOs, and stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualifications and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong coordination, design, and implementation skills.
  • Excellent communication and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage time, resources, and deadlines effectively.
